Training courses on infectious disease case management for the staff of the Redemption Hospital (RH)

Health Focus in collaboration with the Medical Mission Institute Würzburg delivered three one-week training courses on infectious disease case management (including Lassa fever, cholera, meningitis, measles, and EVD) for the staff of the Redemption Hospital (RH), feeder hospitals and the County Health Team in Monrovia, Liberia. Through a training of trainers (ToT) being part of the first course that focused on staff of RH’s isolation unit, a national pool of trainers was created. These trainers took active roles in the subsequent courses.

The trainings are part of a broader assignment implemented by Health Focus in collaboration with the Medical Mission Institute Würzburg that aims at strengthening the capacity of health care workers of the targeted facilities in the early detection, clinical diagnosis and case management of highly infectious diseases. It also includes a review which assessed the current state of emergency preparedness and knowledge gaps in the targeted diseases, and a hospital-based simulation exercise. This assignment is part of the GIZ project “Improvement of healthcare through strengthening of epidemic prevention in Liberia”.
