Strategy Workshop in Maputo

In Mozambique one in nine adults is living with HIV. In its fight against the epidemic the country relies also on its teachers, a skilled workforce to be found in the remotest places educating the country´s youth. At the same time, however, teachers are severely affected by the epidemic themselves.

The German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supports the efforts of Mozambique´s Ministry of Education (MINED) to better protect its workforce´s health. Health Focus has been contracted to help develop a health and well-being approach for teachers, which includes HIV prevention and testing.

On the 29th and 30th of September the Health Focus Team in Maputo organized a strategy workshop with the Ministries of Education and Health, where strategic directions and next steps for the years 2016/2017 were discussed and agreed upon. A price for the best slogan for the 2016 prevention campaign was awarded after lively discussions and interesting presentations.
