PDICA: Highlights from April to June 2025
Between April and June 2025, we achieved a remarkable amount in Burkina Faso as part of the PDICA project in collaboration with local partners: we created spaces for dialogue, strengthened protection and promoted solidarity between refugees and host communities. Here are some highlights from the quarter.
🌍 Empowering communities, supporting displaced populations, and strengthening social cohesion in Burkina Faso — Highlights from April to June 2025
When displacement challenges community bonds, local dedication restores resilience. From April to June, Health Focus and GIZ reached schoolrooms, village halls, and IDP sites under the PDICA project—fostering solidarity between displaced families and host communities.
🏫 Safe Schools
• 78 teachers trained on preventing and responding to sexual exploitation and abuse—equipped with survivor‑centered approaches and referral pathways.
🤝 Community Empowerment
• 65 volunteers and social workers learned to spot, support, and refer GBV survivors.
• 34 IDP‑site managers co‑drafted a unified Code of Ethics.
🌱 Bridging Generations
• 120 youth and elders in intergenerational dialogues on values and women’s leadership—producing concrete, community‑driven recommendations.
🧑🎓 Student Ambassadors
• 2 200+ students engaged in cohesion clubs; 60 youth trained on violence prevention and counter‑radicalization.
🎉 Peace Days
• 126 participants in Bam & Sanmatenga shared songs, stories, and meals—building trust and paving the way for future cooperation.
By quarter’s end, 3 037 people—including 1 671 women—had participated. We also drafted a practical guide to embed gender equity, human rights, and “Leave No One Behind” across all activities.
Together, we build communities where dignity is honored, every voice matters, and no one is left behind.
