Overweight and obesity in Lesotho

Malnutrition in all its forms, including undernutrition, obesity, and other dietary risks for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), is by far the biggest cause of ill-health and premature death globally (19%)[1]. Lesotho represents a mixed picture of both undernutrition and overnutrition. While childhood stunting has increased in the last decade, overweight and obesity has also substantially risen. The World Bank has contracted health Focus to conduct a comprehensive landscape analysis on the situation of obesity/overweight in Lesotho, take stock of the respective key policies, legislations, standards and make appropriate recommendations on priority policies and actions to effectively prevent overweight and obesity in Lesotho.
