Health Focus and AfriCraft Explore Collaboration on Menstrual Health and SRHR

This week, the Health Focus team attended a membership information event hosted by the AfriCraft Association in Berlin.
We were delighted to learn more about AfriCraft’s exciting work in menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) in schools in Tanzania. Menstrual health is an essential part of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and is closely linked to adolescent girls’ ability to participate fully in education and everyday life.

We are looking forward to exploring future opportunities for collaboration on SRHR, MHH, access to menstrual products, managing pain and discomfort, comprehensive SRHR education for both adolescent girls and boys, and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene).
This includes improving access to safe, clean and dignified toilets with running water and appropriate changing facilities in schools. Such facilities can help girls manage their periods safely and with dignity, remain focused on their education, and reduce absenteeism during menstruation.
We believe that menstrual health is not just a health issue — it is also an issue of education, gender equality, dignity and human rights.

We look forward to joining forces to support practical solutions that help ensure that no girl has to miss school simply because she is menstruating.
