Supporting the implementation of activities in the field of female genital mutilation/ Excision (FGM/E) in the health project in Guinea

Objective:

The objective is to support the implementation of the FGM component of the PSRF2-PASA2 in Guinea. Health Focus is responsible for achieving Output 5: “Multisectoral coordination platforms offer gender-sensitive promotional activities to combat female genital mutilation at the national, regional and district levels.”

Content:

Health Focus implements the following activities in the target regions of Kindia, Mamou, Labé, Faranah and N’Zérékoré:

  • Work Area 1: Improved Coordination of FGM activities (Facilitate the functioning of the established multi-sectoral coordination platforms; Facilitate the setting up and functioning of regional and district-level coordination platforms to combat FGM; Contribute to the operationalisation of a database for FGM stakeholder monitoring, update FGM stakeholder mapping and support the dissemination of all harmonized national tools for strengthened monitoring of the sector, Advise and enable the coordination platforms to conduct promotional activities and to take over the organisation of the dialogue forums against FGM
  • Work Area 2: Capacity-building at Community Level (Support the organisation of dialogue forums on combating FGM and sexual violence against women; Develop integrated community initiatives in favour of promoting the elimination of FGM; Develop or reinforce strategies to raise awareness, disseminate information and strengthen the capacity of adolescents who are at risk of or victims of FGM; Contribute towards establishing and/or improving the quality of support services for girls and women who are at risk of or victims of FGM; Ensure the integration of the theme FGM/E into the training modules and service provision of the Community health workers
  • Work Area 3: Collaboration with different Sectors in the Fight against FGM (Encourage the introduction of the topics of GBV and FGM/E into basic education training curricula; Support activities for improved training modules for health staff related to the diagnosis and treatment of complications linked to gender-based violence (GBV) including FGM)
  • Work Area 4: Research and Documentation (Carry out or accompany action research to identify appropriate new measures to combat FGM; Capitalise on, document and disseminate FGM-combating interventions which have proven to be effective)
  • Work Area 5: Communication and Visibility (Create a documentary/ short film on FGM)
  • Management of assignment implementation;
  • Project administration, monitoring and supervision in line with the GIZ instruments;
  • Provide structural support to the module for the planning, M&E and reporting of activities within the PSRF2-PASA2;
  • Project management: select, prepare, train, and steer the experts assigned to perform the advisory tasks, manage costs and expenditure, etc.;
  • Provide technical support;
  • Coordination with GIZ and project partners;
  • Technical backstopping of the project/ quality assurance of deliverables;
  • Support to the development of proposals;
  • Knowledge management: Support the programme in the development of information material and fact sheets;
  • Conduct research (accompany action research to identify appropriate new measures to combat FGM);
  • Regular reporting to the client.
