In 1999 Mbarara University, InWEnt, and representatives of CIM (Centrum für internationale Migration und Entwicklung), DTG (German Society for Tropical Surgery) and FIDE (Working Group for Women’s Health in Developing Countries), jointly developed a Postgraduate Training Programme, covering the training needs of district medical officers in Uganda. After extensive consultations with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, the course was re-shaped into a more comprehensive training programme including internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology/obstetrics and other medical disciplines as well as community health and district health management. The graduates of the programme become Specialist General Practitioners with health management skills.

  • Project Management;
  • Technical backstopping for the preparation and implementation of district mentoring operations for graduates of the programme;
  • Training (preparation and presentation of the workshops “Course coordination” and “Ultrasound”).
