Technical Assistance to the HIV Prevention Campaign in Ukraine

In May 2014, Health Focus was contracted by the GIZ to run the successful German “Gib AIDS keine chance”  HIV awareness campaign in Ukraine, one of the countries in Europe with the highest burden of HIV, with 9 people dying from AIDS every day. The main characteristic of the German campaign model is that it focuses on the general population through a mass media approach, although some specific groups such as young people and physicians do receive special attention.

As such, Health Focus assisted in the adjustment of the communication campaign through evaluating the existing Ukrainian campaign and elaborating recommendations on what elements could be adapted and tailored to the Ukrainian context. Following the submission of the final report, the project officially ended on December 2015, and with 7000 billboards and over 50 000 campaign posters printed and disseminated all around the country, the impact of the campaign has been strong and far reaching.
