Regional HIV Mainstreaming Workshop in Bujumbura

15.06.2011

On 15 June 11, the meeting of the MLPC working group in Bujumbura ended in high spirits with this 'AIDS ribbon group photo'. Health Focus in collaboration with the GIZ organized this 3-day workshop to provide an opportunity to the HIV Focal Points of the GIZ to exchange experiences and discuss the way forward for HIV Mainstreaming in partner countries with a medium or low HIV prevalence. The participants expressed great satisfaction with the content, process and outcomes of the workshop. At the end, the new GIZ approach to HIV mainstreaming were clear for all HIV Focal Points; they approved their new terms of reference; and discussed the possibility to extend the HIV workplace programme to include other health areas and thus create an broader “employee wellness programme”. Finally, the participants agreed on a joint action plan for the MLPC working group for the next 18 months, which will soon be posted on the GIZ HIV Mainstreaming Platform (http://ms-hiv-gdc.org/description/). Thanks to the GIZ Burundi team for excellent cooperation and preparation of the workshop!
