HF Anniversary

11.11.2011

On November 11, 2011 Health Focus celebrated its 10th anniversary.
About 100 guests from all over the world came to the famous Kutschstall Ensemble in the heart of historical Potsdam.

"It is with great pride that we are here to celebrate our company's 10th anniversary," said Dr Alois Dörlemann, General Manager of Health Focus. He also looked ahead to the company's future plans. Headquartered in Potsdam, Germany, Health Focus already has project offices in Burundi, Guinea, DR Congo, El Salvador, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Tanzania.

Dr. Gerlinde Reiprich used the platform to reflect on the 10 year history of Health Focus and thanked the staff for their support and active contribution over the years.

Tom Halgasch presented the recently established Guinean-German medical laboratory (Laboratoire Médical Guinéo-Allemand) in Conakry, Republic of Guinea.

Dr. Barry Kistnasamy gave a presentation on the subject “Extending HIV prevention: Integration of chronic & lifestyle diseases into comprehensive health promotion and prevention programmes”.

Sophie Kotanyi spoke on  the cultural contextualization of HIV-prevention.

During discussions facilitated by Anna von Roenne, a panel of colleagues addressed the question of improved integration of vertical programmes (e.g. HIV, malaria, TB) programmes) into health systems and a holistic approach of ‘health promotion’ in Africa.

The anniversary was very successful and the festivities continued into the late evening.

We thank all our panellists, presenters and guests for making the celebration such an unforgettable event.
