BMZ meets Join-In Circuit in action…

Kyrgyzstan. On 29 March 2011 a delegation from the “Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung” (BMZ), headed by Dr. Marion Urban, visited Vocational school No. 4 in Bishkek and became acquainted with the Join-In Circuit (JIC) on HIV/AIDS prevention event. Fifty students of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH” pilot school participated in the interactive peer-to-peer awareness programme which consisted of five stations, each tackling different aspects of the disease. JIC was presented by the Republican Center for Health Promotion, which is the local partner of the GIZ Program “Health in Central Asia”.

One component of the previously mentioned programme called “HIV/AIDS and Drug abuse prevention in Education Sector”, was implemented by Health Focus GmbH. Health Focus GmbH was responsible for the development and adaptation of interactive tools like the JIC. During the following months, Health Focus tested the newly developed and adapted version of JIC in 8 pilot schools countrywide.
